Comic Book Worship Page

ThEY werE PreTTy cOLors... For over two years of my life, I faithfully sacrificed my sanity and my Saturday afternoons all for the love of comic books. However, all good things must come to an end and I no longer have the extra time to play the nubile blonde comic store clerk behind the counter at Atlantis Fantasyworld. You can still find me on Wednesdays (new comics day) down at the store on my lunch break. I just can't stay away for long. Can you believe it? After I finally had Joe's System™ figured out and everything!

My Descent Into Madness: A Comedy

Despite my four year dedication to higher learning and the literature degree that is inscribed with my name, I am a comic book junkie. It started with just one friend who, finding me in the weakened state of having a 105 degree fever, handed me the first three graphic novels of Sandman. He had previously given me V for Vendetta, despite my protestation that I did not read comic books.

Strangers in Paradise Well, V didn't achieve a miraculous conversion, but, and it might have been the fever, Neil Gaimen's Sandman left me reeling. I had to have more! So once my fever broke, I hobbled down to the local comic book store and was introduced to the nightmare of periodical reading material! A month?!! No new story for an entire 4 weeks?!! I was hooked!

So, from humble beginings, a reader was born. For more than a year, I read only one title. A simple, harmless, inexpensive pleasure... and then Books of Magic started up. This was followed soon after by an entire Vertigo line. One day, Joe, the owner of Atlantis, called me up and asked if I would be interested in working one evening and one weekend shift a week. I do the math and figure out that these hours would not only pay for my addiction, but I would have some left over... so I said, "sure!"

Lady Delirium Little did I know then, that working in a comic book store would not only increase the amount of money I would have with which to buy comic books, but it would also expedentially increase my comic book addiction. Soon after my first month at Atlantis I had to finally concede that I was collecting, as opposed to simply reading, comics, by virtue of the fact that I had filled several boxes with books. I have comic book stashes at my house. I have comic book stashes at my parent's house. I even have extra graphic novels so my friends won't read my original copies.

This year was the fifth year I have been Delirium for Halloween and the third actual costume. Delirium, for those who don't know, is a character out of The Sandman. She is the youngest of the Endless and makes little froggies out of thin air.
